How often do you find yourself searching for joy? Through what do you find joy? Is that joy temporary? Does it last days, weeks, months, or is it an everlasting joy? Most of us find ourselves constantly in search of happiness. That isn’t to say that we don’t find it, but rather that we all desire the same thing. Joy is an important thing to have in your life as it plays a substantial role in how well you succeed, the interactions you are a part of, and the general outlook you have on life. So, where does this joy come from?
The answer is quite simple: Jesus. Jesus is quite honestly the only way to find true, genuine happiness that is unwavering and never fades. He loves you beyond measure. Despite all of the wrongs we have committed, His love does not change. He is always there for you through your struggles and pains. He craves a relationship with all of His children and yes, that means you. He wants a relationship with you, despite anything you have ever done. Answer these questions to yourself: When you’re feeling down, doubting, hopeless, or unimportant, where do you turn? Do you have a specific person you vent to? A famous role model whose words seem to always relate to you? A book you always read? An Instagram account you follow? What makes you feel better?
For me, the answer is Jesus. Delving into His word and immersing myself in His love is more than anything I could ever wish for. He understands me without any explanation and genuinely cares for me. I never have to wonder if He’s going to turn His back on me and exploit my heartaches to someone else because He simply doesn’t. His love exceeds any expectations I could ever develop. He provides opportunities through every hardship and builds me into the woman of Christ He wants me to be. He fills me with love and peace, happiness and gratification. A relationship like that could not be found among any other being. He forgives me for my wrongs and loves me just the same despite them. He calls me His princess, His daughter, His beloved. I know that in Christ, I am accepted and even desired. There’s no greater love than that and no other way to receive everlasting joy.
He loves you just the same. You are also desired, longed for, a child of the King. You are forgiven and set free. You are offered love, acceptance, and a joy that overcomes your soul. It’s your choice to accept all of those things, but it’s a decision that you won’t ever regret. I promise.
