That title alone makes you think all kinds of things I’m sure, but allow me to explain. As a follow-up to my previous post about finding my home in C3 Church Avalon, I thought I should gift you some of the inspiration that I gained a week ago.
The Sunday before last I had the great privilege of sitting through one of Katie Haldane’s sermons. Katie has been teaching at c3 College for the past four years in New Testament Survey and has a Bachelor of Theology from Alphacrucis College. She’s passionate about helping people get the most out of their Bible.
Her message was about the word behold and all that it means to have a behold moment – a moment where your eyes are opened to see God moving in your life. It was such an inspiring and eye-opening (no pun intended) message and I loved every minute of it, but one specific example stuck out to me.
She shared one of her own behold moments where she was shown how God was going to use her through a website called Trash Your Bible. When she first said the name of it I think we all had the same reaction most of you probably just had. We were shocked to hear a sermon that encouraged you to trash your Bible. However, as she began to explain to us that trashing your Bible meant to live in it, to study it thoroughly, and to devote time to diving into God’s word, my mind settled a bit. I am so moved by her willingness to step boldly into God’s plan for her.
“Trash Your Bible is about encouraging people to engage with their Bible. Our passion is to see everyone having personal encounters with the Word of God and being equipped to go deeper into the topics, themes and promises in the Bible.”
